Meet Mike

Mike Plante

For over 20 years, Mike Plante (Director of Photography/Camera Operator/Editor) has been successful doing what he loves. Whether it is covering cruise excursions all over Hawaii, capturing highlights on the sidelines of the College Football BCS Championship Game, shooting a season of Sporting Fishing Television episodes or documenting the most important day in two people’s lives — it’s clear that capturing moments is his passion.

Earlier in his career, Mike was a Sports Anchor/Reporter/Videographer at CFN-13 in Orlando, Florida where he won an Emmy Award for his storytelling & shooting skills. Mike has covered all the major sports including National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA), Major League Baseball (MLB), National Hockey League (NHL), Professional Golfer’s Association (PGA), NASCAR, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and more. His most memorable moment was doing a story with new U.S. Open Champion Payne Stewart at his home. Regrettably, Mike was also the first reporter back at the Stewart home the day he died in 1999 and did a breaking news live shot on CNN.

In 2000, Mike retired from the sports anchoring business and launched his first video company. Elegant Video Productions was created with a focus on event cinematography. Mike uses his award-winning experience to raise the bar in the industry. In fourteen years, Mike has covered over 300 events which included weddings, mitzvahs, corporate parties and other special events.

His patience and willingness to listen to the needs of the client is partly what has made him successful in the event industry in South Florida. His biggest thrill is receiving calls and letters from excited brides and grooms after viewing their wedding videos. “I didn’t even know that happened!” or “it’s better than we ever thought it could be!”

Having worked on productions outside the event industry all along, it was time to brand differently to take on even more broadcast work. In 2011, the company became Mike Plante Productions. Under this latest brand, Mike continues to expand his horizons and is a cameraman on over 10 different television programs a year. Mike’s as worked on shows such as The X-Factor, America's Most Wanted, Sport Fishing Television, Inside the Marlins and his video has aired on networks such as ESPN, Fox News, FoxSports Net, Discovery Channel, Tennis Channel and more!

Mike has also shot with over 10 professional broadcast cameras! From full-size hard cameras at television sporting events, to the Canon 5D on travel shows, right down to small GoPro's for various applications. Whatever your need, Mike Plante can be your cinematographer in any setting.

With a beautiful wife and three awesome kids, Mike is a family man, active in his church, and a man of faith.
